What happens when you scan it?
An event QR carries iCalendar (VEVENT) content, the common format of calendar apps. When scanned, the phone fills the “Add to calendar” screen with the title, date, time and location.
The start time is required; end, location and description are optional. If you leave out the end, the calendar app uses a default duration (usually one hour).
Times are saved in the local time of the scanner's phone. For international attendees, we recommend writing the time zone in the description field.
BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Design Meetup DTSTART:20261015T190000 DTEND:20261015T213000 LOCATION:Cafe Mor\, Brooklyn END:VEVENT
The sample QR above carries exactly this content. When you fill in the form, we build this format for you.

What do you fill in?
The fields you'll see in the generator. You can leave optional ones empty; empty fields aren't added to the code.
Ready in four steps
- 1Name the eventWrite a short, clear title to show in the calendar.
- 2Date and timeChoose the start and, if any, the end.
- 3Location and descriptionAdd the address, room name or online meeting link.
- 4Test and downloadScan it, check the add-to-calendar screen, then download.
For best results
- Keep the title short; calendar views show only the first 20–30 characters.
- For online events, write the meeting link in the description.
- If the date changes you'll need to print a new code; if it might be postponed, consider a short link.
- Also write the date as plain text next to the code.
- Print the code at least 2 × 2 cm; make it bigger as scanning distance grows (about 1/10 of the distance).
- Use a dark pattern on a light background. Some phones can't read inverted codes.
- Don't crop the space around the code; the quiet zone is needed for readability.
- Send SVG to the printer; as a vector it stays sharp at any size.
- Test the final print file with at least two different phones.
