What happens when you scan it?
An email QR carries a standard “mailto:” link. When scanned, the phone's default email app (Gmail, Mail, Outlook…) opens with the fields filled in the way you set them.
Keeping the subject line fixed makes the inbox much easier: with a subject like “Booth 14 – Catalog request” you can filter and auto-label incoming messages.
You can guide the user by writing a template in the message body: lines like “Your name:”, “Order no:” reduce emails arriving with missing information.
mailto:[email protected]?subject=Order%20support&body=Order%20no%3A%20
The sample QR above carries exactly this content. When you fill in the form, we build this format for you.
Where is it useful?
What do you fill in?
The fields you'll see in the generator. You can leave optional ones empty; empty fields aren't added to the code.
Ready in four steps
- 1Enter the recipientEnter the address emails should go to; this field is required.
- 2Add a subjectWrite a descriptive subject so it's easy to spot in the inbox.
- 3Message templateOptional: prepare the lines the user will fill in.
- 4Try and downloadScan the code, check that the draft opens correctly, then download.
For best results
- Write the source in the subject line (“Poster-October”); you'll see which print works.
- Keep the message body short; long text needlessly enlarges the code.
- Use a company address; personal addresses may change over time.
- For desktop users, also write the email address as plain text next to the code.
- Print the code at least 2 × 2 cm; make it bigger as scanning distance grows (about 1/10 of the distance).
- Use a dark pattern on a light background. Some phones can't read inverted codes.
- Don't crop the space around the code; the quiet zone is needed for readability.
- Send SVG to the printer; as a vector it stays sharp at any size.
- Test the final print file with at least two different phones.
FAQ
Email QR
Is the email sent automatically?
No. The QR only prepares the draft; nothing is sent until the user taps send.
Can I add multiple recipients?
We recommend a single address in the recipient field. Multiple addresses may not open correctly in some apps.
What if there's no email app on the phone?
The phone suggests a suitable app or offers to copy the address. That's why writing the address next to the code is a good fallback.
