What happens when you scan it?
A Wi-Fi QR carries the network name (SSID), password and security type in the standard “WIFI:” format. iPhone and Android cameras recognize this format and show a “Join network” button.
Since the password is stored in the code, feel free to use a strong, long password; nobody will have to type it by hand.
The network name and password are case-sensitive. Type them exactly as shown in your router settings, including spaces. For hidden (non-broadcasting) networks, check the “Hidden network” option.

The sample QR above carries exactly this content. When you fill in the form, we build this format for you.
Where is it useful?
What do you fill in?
The fields you'll see in the generator. You can leave optional ones empty; empty fields aren't added to the code.
Ready in four steps
- 1Enter the network nameEnter the network name (SSID) exactly as on the router.
- 2Password and securityEnter the password; leave the security type as WPA/WPA2/WPA3 in most cases.
- 3TryTest the connection by scanning with a phone that isn't connected to the network.
- 4PrintDownload it with a “Connect to Wi-Fi” frame and put it on the table.
For best results
- Set up a guest network separate from your main network; the code will be in everyone's hands.
- When you change the password you'll need to print a new code; old codes won't work.
- Write the network name and password in small print next to the code; it's a fallback for older devices.
- Write “Connect to Wi-Fi” as the frame text so the code's purpose is clear at first glance.
- For open networks, choose “No password” as the security type.
- Print the code at least 2 × 2 cm; make it bigger as scanning distance grows (about 1/10 of the distance).
- Use a dark pattern on a light background. Some phones can't read inverted codes.
- Don't crop the space around the code; the quiet zone is needed for readability.
- Send SVG to the printer; as a vector it stays sharp at any size.
- Test the final print file with at least two different phones.
FAQ
Wi-Fi QR
Which phones support it?
iOS 11 and later and Android 10 and later connect with the built-in camera. Older devices may need Google Lens or a QR app.
Is my password safe?
The password is written into the code and anyone who scans it can see it; just like writing the password on the table. That's why we recommend using a guest network. We don't store the password when creating the code.
Does it work with enterprise (802.1X) networks?
No. Enterprise networks that require a username aren't supported by the Wi-Fi QR standard.
My password has special characters; is that a problem?
No. Special characters such as ; : \ are escaped according to the standard.
